The EU Gender Equality Strategy provides objectives and policy actions to make significant progress by 2025 toward a just and equal society.
The goal is to ensure that everyone, in their diversity,
“They are free to pursue their chosen path in life, have equal opportunities to thrive, and can participate on an equal footing in and lead our European society”
3 main areas focused on the strategy:
1. Freedom from gender-based violence and stereotypes
2. Closing the gender gaps in the labor market. Achieving equal participation across all sectors of the economy
3. Closing the gender care gap and achieving gender balance in decision-making and policy.
While the strategy focuses on actions within the EU, it is consistent with the EU's foreign policy on gender equality and women's empowerment.
