LAURA JABBOUR

My name is Laura Jabbour.
A Landscape Architect, and creative designer by passion.
I am from Syria, and I have been in Barcelona for 6 years.
I am a multicultural person and that is reflected in everything I do.
I have always perceived regular things from a creative angle, and I have always found creative ways to deliver ideas and feelings to people through one or more of their senses.
That is why I chose architecture and then landscape as a way for me to bring my imagination to life, and because they have an impact on the human experience.
That is why I chose architecture and then landscape as a way for me to bring my imagination to life, and because they have an impact on the human experience.
I enjoy transforming ordinary to extraordinary through creative ways,
so, I use different material and artistic methodologies and textures to create tangible art pieces.
Additionally, I use Graphic design for VISUAL STORYTELLING that is tailored to the client's personality.
I have always loved doing crafts, painting, and Arabic calligraphy, in the last 5 years, I started to add an oriental touch to my handmade crafts, perhaps to emphasize this part of my identity.
A non-Arab person said to me while looking at me writing notes in Arabic:
"When you write in Arabic it seems that you are doing embroidery"
and this phrase really fits inside me.
And personally,
I feel that what represents me the most, as an Arab person, is Arabic calligraphy.
Because it is like a thread that draws my feelings.
Arabic calligraphy for the Arabs is a vocabulary that has meaning, for others, they are images, drawings, or rather, letters without any meaning.
But even when it is not understandable, it gives a beautiful feeling, impression, or beautiful image ...
Each person receives it in a different way according to the surrounding context and the feeling that one has at that moment ... like any type of art.
So, I started my project #Arabegraphy using embroidered words in Arabic to express my feelings and to tell visual stories and show certain places or concepts through my words.
