Baytna Event - Activating the Arab community in Barcelona
Updated: Aug 9, 2021
The Arab community in Catalunia is very diverse and rich in colorful identities. However, and regardless of our diversity, we are connected to a long history, language, traditions, and roots, not only religion.
We suffer from stereotypes and preconceived ideas of who we are, how we live, and what we need. It is frequent and counterproductive in the conversation of diversity and tolerance.
May is European Diversity Month. It's the best time to start coming together as a community and embrace the diversity of our backgrounds, identities, beliefs and struggles.
Additionally, the pandemic has been a very challenging time for everyone. Yet it has confirmed to us the importance of community for our mental health and support.
Baytna means Our Home: an event to support a community built for Arabs by Arabs to:
Build a community of support and connection between the Arab speakers in Barcelona
Share their cultural diversity, experiences, and information
Promote the sense of belonging in Barcelona
Investigate their needs and difficulties in a trusted environment to come up with solutions together.
Let's build our home away from home!
The event was presented with the collaboration of Athrodeel Ahmad&Aseel
Sponsored by New Women Connectors
